Westminster City Council have introduced a 20mph speed limit on all roads in the borough, as part of their commitment to making streets safer, healthier and cleaner for everyone.
Slowing down traffic speed reduces the severity of accidents and makes it safer to walk and cycle – helping improve public space and encourage healthier, more active lifestyles.
The speed limit is being introduced following consultation with residents and businesses last year. Lower speed limits were supported by an overwhelming majority of residents, who feel it would be safer to walk and cycle in their community as a result.
