A Letter from BID Chairman, Will Clayton

Dear All,

Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting our businesses, our employees, our communities and our way of life. During this time, I wanted to reach out and offer reassurance that the BID is doing everything it can to help.

Following the Prime Ministers announcement on Monday 23 March, most businesses in Paddington have closed for the foreseeable future. Many of you will have left the area to self-isolate in your homes. The BID has prioritised keeping the Community Safety Team at full capacity for the time being, keeping a much-needed ‘eyes on the ground’ approach to their shifts. They are paying particular attention to closed businesses and will be reporting 5 days a week Tuesday to Saturday 12 noon to 10pm. We hope this will offer some comfort to know that the team is looking out for your business whilst you may not be able to.

It is important that we work together as a community to bring assistance to those that are vulnerable. Westminster City Council has set up a system to connect volunteers for those who need help. Individuals and organisations can register their interest here.

The Government is supporting businesses and their employees through a package of measures during this period of unprecedented disruption. You can find the right support, advice and information to help with the impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) on your business here.

The BID has set up a Coronavirus: COVID-19 page which will offer links to the latest government information and advice as well as that from other relevant agencies.

If you are a food business in the area who is offering a delivery service please let the BID know by emailing askus@Paddingtonnow.co.uk and they will endeavour to help promote it through their marketing channels.

Lastly, together we will get through this, Paddington will recover and we will be a stronger community after it. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or a member of the BID team directly to discuss any concerns you might have.

Yours Faithfully,

Will Clayton,
Chairman, PaddingtonNow BID
